Advocate Ashwini Upadhyay

Advocate Ashwini Upadhyay is a prominent Supreme Court lawyer in India and an active political figure, associated with the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party). Known for filing numerous Public Interest Litigations (PILs), he focuses on key legal reforms, often sparking debates due to the sensitive nature of his cases. His PILs have addressed issues like the implementation of a Uniform Civil Code, the abolition of triple talaq, and reforms in divorce laws and electoral practices.

Upadhyay initially came into the public eye as part of the anti-corruption movement led by Anna Hazare, and he was one of the founding members of the Aam Aadmi Party before parting ways due to ideological differences. Since then, he has used the judiciary to push for significant changes in India's legal and governance systems. His PILs often tackle issues related to gender justice, the abolition of archaic laws, and political transparency.
