ताप्ती (तापी) नदी के किनारे प्राचीन शहर सूर्यपुर के तट पर स्थित सूरत, अब गुजरात की आर्थिक राजधानी और भारत के सबसे प्रतिष्ठित शहरों में से एक सूरत के रूप में विश्व प्रसिद्ध है। महाभारत काल के दौरान, महान योद्धा कर्ण का अंतिम संस्कार सूर्यपुर में ताप्ती नदी के तट पर किया गया था। आज भी, सूरत पूरे भारत में अपने परोपकार, करुणा और धर्म के पालन के लिए जाना जाता है। यहाँ के लोग दान और धर्म में सक्रिय रूप से भाग लेते हैं और एक सौम्य और गरिमापूर्ण जीवन जीते हैं। सूरत को अपने कपड़ा उद्योग के लिए भारत के मैनचेस्टर और दुनिया की हीरा राजधानी के रूप में जाना जाता है, जहाँ उद्योगपति दिवाली के उपहार के रूप में कर्मचारियों को घर और कार देते हैं। सूरत को अपने सार्वजनिक सुरक्षा बुनियादी ढांचे, अभिनव व्यंजनों, फ्लाईओवर, सीसीटीवी निगरानी और स्वच्छता के लिए भी जाना जाता है। समुद्र तट के पास स्थित, सूरत प्राचीन काल से यूरोप, अफ्रीका और अन्य पश्चिमी देशों के साथ व्यापार का केंद्र रहा है। सूरत के व्यापारी सुदूर पूर्व, यूरोप, मिस्र, फारस और अन्य जैसे दूरदराज के देशों के साथ व्यापार में लगे हुए थे। ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी ने भी सूरत से अपना कारोबार शुरू किया। चेक जारी करने की प्रथा सूरत की हुंडी प्रणाली से शुरू हुई, जहाँ राशि एक पत्र पर लिखी जाती थी, और प्राप्तकर्ता को उस देश में निर्दिष्ट स्थान पर धनराशि प्राप्त होती थी।
इतिहास, वाणिज्य, दान और अध्यात्म जैसे विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में अग्रणी होने के बावजूद, सूरत के लोग प्रमुख साहित्यिक, कलात्मक और सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमों की कमी महसूस करते हैं। इस शून्य ने "सूरत लिटरेरी फाउंडेशन" के विचार को जन्म दिया।

अब से पच्चीस साल बाद, 2047 में, जब भारत औपनिवेशिक गुलामी से आजादी के 100 साल पूरे होने का जश्न मनाएगा, तो भारत कैसा होना चाहिए? हम "भारत@2047" में इस पर चर्चा करने के लिए उत्सुक हैं।
धर्म, शिक्षा, राजनीति, अर्थव्यवस्था, शासन, विदेश नीति, आंतरिक सुरक्षा, मीडिया, फिल्म, नीति-निर्माण आदि क्षेत्रों में अगले 25 वर्षों में भारत को क्या करना चाहिए, इस पर तीन दिवसीय संवाद होगा। सूरत के लोग इस तीन दिवसीय मेगा संवाद को देखने और सुनने के लिए बेसब्री से इंतजार कर रहे हैं।

Located near the coastline, Surat has been a center of trade since ancient times with Europe, Africa, and other western countries. Surat traders engaged in business with distant lands such as Far East, Europe, Egypt, Persia, and others. The East India Company also began its business from Surat. The practice of issuing checks originated from Surat's hundi system, where the amount was written on a letter, and the recipient would receive the funds at a designated location in that country.
Despite being at the forefront in various fields such as history, commerce, charity, and spirituality, the people of Surat feel a lack of major literary, artistic, and cultural events. This void gave birth to the idea of the "Surat Literary Foundation".

Twenty-five years from now, in 2047, when India celebrates 100 years of independence from colonial slavery, what should India be like? We are eager to discuss this in "India@2047".
There will be a three-day dialogue on what India should do in the next 25 years in the fields of religion, education, politics, economy, governance, foreign policy, internal security, media, film, policy-making, etc. The people of Surat are eagerly awaiting to witness and hear this three-day mega dialogue.
